Bartel, Vernon W.

Vernon W. Bartel, age 89, of Fremont, died on Saturday, July 3, 2010, in Waupaca. He was born on December 1, 1920, in the Town of Wolf River, WI, the son of the late Erwin and Louise (Rucks) Bartel. On October 10, 1947, Vernon married Verona Krenke at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. Vernon was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield, where he was a former trustee. He farmed for 49 years in the Town of Wolf River and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Vernon is survived by his wife, Verona; two sisters, Florence Wohlt, Fremont and Eveline (Walter) Lippert, New London; a brother, Floyd (Geraldine), Fremont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Haese. A memorial service for Vernon was held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Lewin Funeral Home, 210 Main St. Fremont. Pastor Paul Fritz will officiate. Inurnment took place in Wolf River Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
