Karr, David Walter

David Walter Karr, 97, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at David Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC. His loving family surrounded David during his short illness. David was born to the Reverend R.A. and Amanda Karpinsky on March 6, 1913, in Manawa, WI. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, and his children, David, Greg (Cheryl) and Kay (Jim), 5 grandchildren, Rick, Nicole, Jessie (Ben), Amanda, and Aiden, and 1 great-grandchild, Grady. David spent his early adult years teaching in a one-room schoolhouse at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manawa, WI. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served overseas. David settled and raised his family in Stevens Point where David worked as a salesman for Vetter Manufacturing. He later partnered in a manufacturing complay, Trail-et, in Manawa. David and Dorothy shared a wonderful and long retirement together in Florida and Wilmington, NC. He will be greatly missed by his family. Celebrations of David’s life will be held August 6 at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, luncheon to follow and August 7 at 10:30 a.m at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manawa, burial and luncheon to follow.
