Rieckmann, Harold

Harold Oscar Charles Rieckmann, age 85, New London, died on Sunday, August 8, 2010, after a short fight with cancer at St. Joseph Residence. Harold was born on September 12, 1924, to Herbert and Ella (Lenz) Rieckmann, in New London. He was a well known business man, owning and operating Rieckmann Shoe Store in New London for 35 years. Harold was a WWII veteran serving his country in the Air Force. He was on the Police and Fire Commission for 35 years and in April of 2004 received the good citizenship award. He also was on the Board of Directors for F&M Bank for many years and a long time member of New London Country Club. He was an avid Packer fan and also liked to fish, play cards and Bingo. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Harold is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons: Robert (Chris) Rieckmann, Tustin; William Rieckmann, Atlanta, GA; James (Ann) Rieckmann, New London; Richard (fiancee Shari) Rieckmann, New London. Grandchildren: Kelly (Tony) Spors, Brandon; Devin (friend Mike) Rieckmann, Appleton; Jason (friend Michelle) Rieckmann; Greenville; Heidi (Phill) Schroeder, Waupaca; Amanda (friend Greg) Rieckmann, New London; Lindsay (Fiance Tanner) Rieckmann, New London; Rachel Rieckmann, New London; Elizabeth Rieckmann, Atlanta, GA; Cassandra Rieckmann; New London; Jonathon Frion, Oneida; step-grandchildren: Ashley (Kyle) Huey, Autumn Fahser; Kim (Richard) Hutchison, Iola; Kay (Scott) Millard, New London; great-grandchildren: Jacob and Jordan Behm, Brady Spors, Keegan Spors, Rhiannon Clyde, Brielle Rieckmann, Alexis Rieckmann, Havaah Schroeder, Brooke Blank, Addison Scotto; step-great-grandchildren: Hazel Fahser, Hope Fahser, Lane Huey, Aubree (Pete) Sidor, Zachary Hutchison and Aaron Millard. A brother, Herb Jr. (Cathy) Rieckmann and a sister, Carol Jean Smith, Appleton. He is further survived by a step brother-in-law, step sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends, Lloyd and Diane Coppersmith, Waupaca and Bud and Judy Weiser, Knoxville, TN. Besides his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, a son, John, a sister, Verna Mae Gertsch, a granddaughter, Olivia Spors and a step-grandson, Austin. Funeral services for Harold will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Caledonia Township. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
