To help make up for several of the rainouts earlier in the year, 46 go-karts and lawn mowers showed up at GSR Kartway for a night of racing on Monday, Aug. 2.
Jayden Schmidt jumped out to the quick lead over Elly Arndt, Jeffery Teske, Mackenzie Danielson and Matthew Radtke in the Rookie Box Stock feature. Arndt stayed with Schmidt through the first half of the race but never received the right opportunity to make the pass for the lead. Radtke moved to fourth on lap eight, but Schmidt led the rest of the race to take the win.
In the Box Stock feature Jacy Schmidt took the early lead over Zachery Nelson, Gabe McCarty, Lewis Jepson and Dakota Kallas. McCarty made the pass for second on lap three and began running down Schmidt. Laps eight through 12 McCarty applied heavy pressure for the lead and the two made contact with less than three laps remaining. Schmidt was up to the challenge and raced to the win.
Logan Griffin led the first 11 laps of the Racing for Education feature, leaving Carlos Enanorado, Hunter Tietz, Tyler Natzke and Connor Loughrin following. Enanorado made the pass for the lead with four laps remaining and never looked back to take the win.
Garret Strachota claimed the early initial lead over Matt Rohde, Mason Woods, Jordan Bartz and Maria Steinke in the Controlled Stock feature. Rohde went off the track on the backstretch midway through the race bringing out a caution. Two laps after the restart Bartz tried to pass Strachota on the low side and the two made contact. Both karters were able to keep going, with Strachota eventually taking the win.
In the Junior II feature, Wyatt Blashe pulled out to a slight lead over Taylor Arndt, Kobe Schreiber, Wyatt Block and Jason Ebert at the drop of the green flag. Blashe pulled away as the race progress, but Schreiber, Lucas Lamberies and Arndt were in a dogfight for the second spot. Lamberies eventually got second, but it was Blashe getting first.
Hunter Parsons led all 15 laps of the Junior III feature leaving Brock Saunders, Cody Schroeder and Brandon Grendzinski to battle for second. Grendzinski moved into second on the seventh lap, but it there was no catching Parsons.
Dale Alger led all 15 laps of the Animal Pro feature to take the win over Cami Alger.
Todd Schertz led the first three laps of the Lawn Mower feature when a caution came out for the stalled lawn mower of Troy Miller. Schertz continued to lead on the restart with Andy Mares in pursuit. Mares put heavy pressure on Schertz over the final four laps of the race. Mares pulled to the inside of Schertz to lead the white flag lap, but Schertz fought back and led the lap that counted, taking the win.
