Waupaca County sheriff’s report

Theft

?Aug. 15 – A child’s bicycle and tackle box were reported stolen from outside the Manawa library.

?Aug. 14 – Two mountain bikes were stolen from the 200 block of East Sumner Street, Weyauwega.

?Aug. 14 – A caller from the E7800 block of Nicolai Road, Manawa, told police that his neighbor was stealing electricity from him.

?Aug. 13 – The theft of $1,176 was reported from a home on the E8200 block of Hickory Haven Lane, New London.

?Aug. 12 – An orange BMX bike was reported stolen from outside the Waupaca library.

?Aug. 11 – A Bose Wave radio was reported stolen from a room in Olson Hall at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

?Aug. 11 – A resident of the 200 block of Austin Court, New London, reported the theft of a green 1999 Ford Escort.

Burglary

?Aug. 15 – A burglary was reported in the N2500 block of Brittany Lane, Waupaca.

?Aug. 14 – A break-in was reported at a cottage on the E2400 block of Silver Lake Road, Scandinavia.

?Aug. 12 – A home on the 800 block of Main Street, Ogdensburg, was entered while the owner was away. A jar with change, rings and jewelry were stolen.

Traffic

?Aug. 13 – One person was injured in a crash at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the town of Lind.

Sheila M. Paulowski, 40, Nekoosa, was westbound on U.S. Highway 10 when her vehicle drifted onto the shoulder of the median. Police said she went into the grass, then overcorrected, crossed both westbound lanes and went into the north ditch where she rolled the vehicle.

She required emergency medical transport for her injuries.

?Aug. 10 – A two-vehicle crash shortly after 7:30 a.m. in the town of Lebanon resulted in one injury.

Darren W. Helms, 43, Clintonville, was northbound on U.S. Highway 45 when his vehicle drifted into the southbound lane of traffic and collided with a truck driven by Russell L. Knapp, 61, New London. Helms was seriously injured and required medical transport.

?Aug. 13 – Two people were injured in a motorcycle crash at 2:30 a.m. in the town of Royalton.

Donald B. Stevens, 48, Oshkosh, was going around the curve on County Road K near Baldwin Road when he hit a patch of gravel, causing him to lose control of his bike. He and a passenger, Jacqueline L. Meyer, 47, Ripon, were injured and required medical transport.

?Aug. 6 – Three people were injured in a crash shortly after 11 a.m. in the town of Dayton.

According to police, Craig W. Campbell, 77, Plainfield, was eastbound on County Road QQ when he pulled through the stop sign at the corner of State Highway 22 into the path of Kurt L. Baumgarten, 40, Onalaska.

All three were taken from the scene by ambulance. Campbell and his passenger, Ruth W. Campbell, 67, were reported to have suffered serious injuries.
