Crash kills two in Marion

MARION – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 45 and STH. 110 in the City of Marion has left two people dead. The accident took place on Thursday, Aug. 26, at 2:11 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates a mini van driven by Ned Nehring, 86, Marion, was northbound on USH 45. The mini van made a left turn onto STH 110 in front of southbound USH 45 pick-up truck driven by Dennis Krueger, 65, rural Shiocton, at which time both vehicles collided.

Nehring and his wife, Arlette, 88, who occupied the mini van were fatally injured. The pick-up trucks occupants, Krueger and his wife Susan, 58, were transported to the New London Family Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Marion Police stated traffic in the area of the crash on both US 45 and State Highway 110 were either closed or restricted while police collected data from the scene for their investigation. The highways were re-opened fully at 7:41 p.m.

The Marion Police Department was assisted by Clintonville and Marion Ambulance, Marion Fire, in addition to the Shawano and Waupaca County Sheriff’s Offices. The crash remains under investigation. Marion Police have requested the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol in completing a reconstruction of the crash.
