Wegener, Mildred C.

Mildred C. “Millie” Wegener (nee Roloff), passed away Friday September 17, 2010, at Manawa Community Nursing Home. Mildred was born October 19, 1924, daughter of the late Leo and Julia (Baumgart) Roloff, in Royalton, WI. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. She graduated from Manawa High School in 1942. She married Robert L. Wegener on November 1, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. Millie worked many years for the Manawa School District, and was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and was an active member of Zion’s Women of the ELCA. Millie enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, snowmobiling, golf. She also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of her two grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to be with them. Millie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Wegener, Manawa, WI, daughter, Patricia (Paul) Hirte, Kaukauna, WI., two grandchildren, Chad Hirte, Waupaca, WI. and Kathryn Hirte, Kaukauna, WI., Sister; Helen Mittelstaedt, Greenville, WI. Brother; Floyd (Delores) Roloff, Royalton, WI. Sisters-in-law, Mary Roloff and Cordell Roloff, New London, Wi. Jean Schuelke, Manawa, Wi. Millie is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Lawrence, Leonard (Charlotte), Clarence (Margaret), Adolph Roloff. Brothers-in-law, Otto Mittelstaedt, Harold Schuelke. A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa with Reverend Vilas Mazemke officiating. Family and friends called at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home, Manawa, Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again at church one hour prior to service. Burial was in Little Wolf Cemetary, Manawa. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at Zion Lutheran Church.
