Zuehlsdorf, Jane S.

Jane S. Zuehlsdorf, age 90, passed away peacefully Friday, September 17, 2010, at Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca, with her Daughter and Son-in-law at her side. Jane was born April 12, 1920, in Milwaukee, to Dr. Allen and Evelyn Sivyer. She is a graduate of Milwaukee Downer College. After graduation, she briefly lived in New York City and attended Parsons school of design, until her Father’s death prompted her return to WI. During World War II, she worked at the Falk Corporation. On July 27, 1957, she married Carl Zuehlsdorf, and they spent 19 years together until his death in March 1976. Jane is survived by her children, Carol (Peter) Gehrke, Amherst; Paul, Lake Wales, FL; brother, Fred (Dorothy) Sivyer, Lenexa, KS; and sister-in-law, Gloria Sivyer, Tampa, FL. She is further survived by seven grandchildren; Melanie, Allison, and Samantha Gehrke; Ashley, Brittany, Carl and Dylan Zuehlsdorf; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl and her twin brother, Allen. For the past six years, Jane resided at the WI Veterans Home in King, WI. She loved people, and reached out to everyone she encountered with a smile and kind words. Her family extends sincere thanks to the staff in Stordock Hall, who she considered her extended family. We will miss her sunny disposition and determination. A memorial service was held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the main chapel of the WI Veterans Home in King, WI., with Pastor Wayne Schwanke officiating. Visitation was held from 9:30 until 10:30. Jane will be buried beside her husband in Union cemetery in Milwaukee.
