Comet runners at home today

The Waupaca Comet boys’ and girls’ cross country squads placed seventh and sixth, respectively, at Saturday’s Polar Bear Invitational in Greenville.

Zach Wheeler led the Comet boys with a 10th-place finish. Jeff Servey, Gabriel Vassar and Adam Biba placed 45th, 46th and 47th, while Logan Ader was 52nd.

Taylor Fabricius paced the girls by finishing 20th. Also crossing the finish line were Lizzie Hanke, 32nd; Autumn Schultz, 38th; Abbey Lazers, 41st; and Taylor Davidson, 43rd.

The Comets will host the Waupaca Invitational today (Thursday). Teams from Adams-Friendship, Amherst, Berlin, Clintonville, Fox Valley Lutheran, Green Lake, Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa, Marinette, Westfield, Medford, Oconto, Omro, Oshkosh Lourdes, Stevens Point Pacelli, Rosholt, Menasha St. Mary Central, Wausau Newman, Wautoma, Winnebago Lutheran and Winneconne will also compete. Races are set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Waupaca High School.
