Mayor Smith proclaims Business Appreciation Week

Mayor Brian Smith has signed a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 4 as Business Appreciation Week in the city.

“This is particularly tough and challenging times for our local economy, and it is important that we do all we can as a community and city government to foster job creation and help grow our existing businesses,” Smith said. “While Waupaca has weathered the storm better than most small communities in Wisconsin, we must be diligent. By declaring our appreciation to our business sector, it helps to bring that focus and attention to the important role our businesses play.”

Activities planned for the week include a picnic at South Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5. Due to limited space, advance reservations are needed by calling the chamber of commerce at 715-258-7343 if you would like to attend. The picnic is sponsored by the city of Waupaca and the Waupaca County Economic Development Corp.

On Thursday, Oct. 7, the chamber will sponsor its Business Expo at the Waupaca Ale House. The event kicks off with a luncheon with guest speaker Adam Smith, vice president for membership services of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh. He will speak about the impact the EAA has on the region and Waupaca in particular.

Following lunch is the Business to Business Showcase. The day concludes with a cash bar and hors d’oeurves provided by business participants.

Booths are still available. Any business or organization interested in having a booth at the Business Expo should contact the chamber of commerce.

Visit www.WaupacaAreaChamber.com to learn more about the event and to register online.

Finally, Centerline Machine will be showcasing their new facility in the City Business and Technology Park on Friday, Oct. 8. They will be having public tours over the lunch hour.
