RMC offers Safe Sitter class

Riverside Medical Center (RMC) will offer its Safe Sitter class from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16, at the Maasch Education Center.

The program is taught by registered nurses and covers first aid, injury prevention, basic child care skills such as diapering and feeding, management of problem behavior and the business side of baby-sitting.

“Baby-sitting is a great job for teenagers to make extra money, but with that job comes a lot of responsibility,” said Registered Nurse Beckie Crisman, one of the program instructors. “This class prepares them for that responsibility in a fun and engaging environment.”

The class is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 13. The fee is $25, and advance registration is required. To register, call 715-258-1183. The RMC Safe Sitter program is supported by funding from the RMC Auxiliary.
