Pethke named rodeo queen in Manawa

Brooke Pethke was recently chosen to reign as queen of the Manawa Lions 53rd annual Mid-Western Rodeo.

Pethke is a senior at Clintonville High School. Her hobbies include barrel racing and rodeo. She is the daughter of Kristen Meyer, of Clintonville, and Tom Pethke, of Ogdensburg.

Tracy Wildenberg, daughter of Kelly and Loretta Wildenberg, of Ogdensburg, was selected princess of the rodeo. She is a senior at Little Wolf High School in Manawa.

This year’s contest was held Sept. 13 at the Manawa Rodeo grounds. Contestants were judged on horsemanship skills, appearance and personality.

Part of Pethke’s responsibilities for promoting the Mid-Western Rodeo will begin with public relations work at local radio stations and the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison. She will preside over the 2011 Manawa Lion’s-sponsored Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo held in Manawa on July 1-3.
