NEW LONDON – Thirty students from the group “Character Rocks Everyone’s World” CREW visited residents at the Chatham Apartments, within the Washington Center, Oct. 22.
CREW is a New London Intermediate Middle School group, which focuses on building Bulldogs of character. October’s character education trait is caring. Therefore, the CREW wanted to display caring by visiting the residents of Chatham Apartments.
At the gathering, small clusters were formed and students and residents were able to quickly bond. Chatter among the groups ranged in topics from Halloween costumes to historical events. The unions were so successful that, Director of Tenant Services; Dan Mercer invited the CREW participants to visit on a regular basis. Unanimously, the students volunteered to make return trips.
