Rowe, Julian Harold

Julian H. Rowe, 93, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Iola Living Assistance Nursing Home. He was born on October 6, 1917 to Harry and Ella (Peterson) Rowe and grew up on their dairy farm near Scandinavia. OnMarch 11, 1942, he married Isabelle (Sabrowsky) Rowe. Julian was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WW II, serving in North Africa, Italy and England. In 1945 he and Isabelle settled in Appleton, where he first worked for the Gibson Auto Company and then later earned his real estate broker’s license and ultimately opened his own firm of Rowe Agency Realtors-Appraisers with Isabelle as his associate. They retired in 1980 and moved to the house they built in St. Lawrence Township, Waupaca County. They spent many happy years traveling to visit their children and grandchildren and enjoying the sunsets and wildlife from the deck overlooking their pond. Julian was a faithful volunteer at both the King Veterans Home and the Riverside Medical Center. When Isabelle died of Alzheimer’s Disease on February 15, 2009, Julian, impressed with the care she had been given, established a scholarship in her memory that assists nontraditional students to complete nursing degrees. He was a volunteer director of the Riverside Health Foundation, which administers the scholarship fund. He is survived by his daughters: Jane (Robert ) Endter, Charlestown, RI, Patricia (Paul) Geenen, Milwaukee, WI, and Jenifer (James) Campo, El Dorado Hills, CA; son, Steven (Mary Lee) Rowe, Ogdensburg; 12 Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Helene Furst, Springdale, AR; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kermit, and great-granddaughter, Sophia. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
