Classes explore grief, offer support

For those who are mourning the loss of a loved one and are looking for a safe place to learn strategies on how to cope, ThedaCare At Home can help.

ThedaCare At Home’s Living With Loss, a grief education and support group for adults, has upcoming monthly sessions planned in Waupaca.

The group meets from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10, April 14, May 12 and June 9, at Riverside Medical Center’s Maasch Education Center, 902 Riverside Drive.

The support group, which is free and open to the public, helps participants explore grief and move toward healing.

“We offer a supportive environment that is free and open to anyone mourning a loss,” said Stefenie Post, ThedaCare At Home’s bereavement coordinator, who leads the sessions. “We discuss losses, coping ideas and resources available to the grieving person.”

The classes encourage participants to talk, share and actively work through grief. Identifying with others who have had similar experiences and learning from others’ experiences is a supportive way for the grieving person to continue on his or her journey, said Post, who is a licensed and certified social worker.

Preregistration is not required for any session but is appreciated. For more information or to register, call 920-730-3408 or 800-984-5554.
