Winners of conservation speaking contest

The Waupaca County Land and Water Conservation Department held its annual Conservation and Environmental Awareness Speaking Contest Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Waupaca Learning Center.

?First place – Megan Dorsett, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, for her speech, “Where Did Bambi Go?”

?Second place – Georgia Robbert, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, “Behind the Paw.”

?Third place – Lauren Kester, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, “The Trumpet Not in the Marching Band.”

?First place – Mathilda Robbert, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, “To Burn or Not to Burn.”

?Second place – Alyssa Nitzke, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, “The Bald and the Beautiful.”

?Third place – Noah Isenhower, Weyauwega Christ Lutheran School, “The Rattle With an Attitude.”

Other participating students were Landon Buchholtz, Hanna Nitzke, Isaiah Wentzel, Courtney Gorges, Mary Jenks and Taylor Berndt.

This year’s judges were Kari Esbensen, Roger Holman, Maureen Markon and Shannon Anderson.

The first-place winners spoke at the District Level Competition Oct. 28 in Waupaca, competing against students from Marquette and Outagamie counties.
