Trucks crushed by Irish, Mustangs

The Freedom Irish put up 76 points against Clintonville’s 39 on Thursday, Dec. 9, as they cruised to an easy win over the Truckers.

Freedom exploded out of the gates, scoring 29 points in the first quarter while shooting nearly 78 percent from the field in the opening frame. Clintonville managed just seven points.

In the second quarter, Clintonville scored 10 but Freedom stayed hot to score 19 and take a 48-17 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Clintonville scored 15 but Freedom scored 14 of their own to maintain the large lead. In the fourth quarter, Clintonville again scored only seven points while Freedom scored 14 to earn the win by a score of 76-39.

Patrick VanDaalwyk led the way for Clintonville, scoring 22 points. Xavier Fletcher added six, while Tyler Sawall scored four and Greg Kriewaldt had three. Justin Reiter and Colin Moon each scored two.

Clintonville shot 34.1 percent from the field, while Freedom shot 50.8 percent. The Truckers made half of their free throw attempts, while Freedom sank 83 percent of their shots from the line.

The Irish outrebounded the Truckers 37-25 and had 10 assists versus Clintonville’s seven.

The team suffered an 18-58 loss at the hands of the Little Chute Mustangs on Friday, Dec. 18.

Little Chute held Clintonville to just four points in the first quarter and four in the second to take a commanding 26-8 lead at halftime. The Mustangs held the Truckers to five points in the third quarter and five in the fourth as they cruised to a 58-18 win over Clintonville.

Patrick VanDaalwyk led the way for Clintonville, scoring seven points. Justin Reiter added six, while Leandro Leon added three and Aaron Schmidt had two.

The Truckers shot just 16.7 percent from the field on the game, while the Mustangs shot 41 percent. Little Chute was 28.6 percent from 3-point range, while Clintonville made just one-of-14 3-point shots.

The Truckers were outrebounded 26-42. Little Chute had 13 assists to Clintonville’s six.
