Walkush, Richard E.

Richard “Dick’ E. Walkush, age 72, of Wau-paca, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday January 1, 2011. Dick was born on April 19, 1938 the son of Edward F. and Catherine (Lapinski) Walkush. Dick married Nancy Dombrowski on August 27, 1960. Dick’s passions included raising Komorner and Old German Owl show pigeons, woodworking, wood carving, camping, hunting, fishing, reading, doing cross word, and jig saw puzzles. He also enjoyed hiding Easter eggs and making his famous “Letter” pancakes for the grandchildren and watching their activities. Dick was a graduate of UWSP. He worked for the DNR, and was the Forest Ranger of Waupaca County from 1970 until 1990. Dick is survived by his wife Nancy of Waupaca, one daughter Cheri (Wayne) Kelly of Waupaca, three sons Tim Walkush of Amherst, Michael (Sonya) Walkush of Amherst, and Rick (Heidi) Walkush of Waupaca; eleven grandchildren Ashley Morris, Tyler, Adam, Turner, and Caitlin Kelly, Marissa, Tate, and Taran Walkush, Allie, Abby and Hayden Walkush; three step grandchildren Aaron and Tanner Dobizl, and Olivia Anderson; two great grandchildren Aaliyah and Izaiah; one sister Jean (Gene) Moss; three brothers Jere (Shirley) Walkush, Gordy (Mary) Walkush, and Mark (Ann) Walkush, Also six god children and many other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Edward F. and Catherine Walkush and his father and mother-in-law Leo and Philomen Dombrowski. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at 11 A.M. at the St. Mary’s Magdalene Catholic Community, father Brian Belongia will officiate. A visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca and again at church on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of the mass at 11A.M.
