Bauer receives award

Danae Bauer, of Scandinavia, will receive a special honor at the Wisconsin Holstein Association’s Junior Holstein Convention Jan. 8-10 in Stevens Point.

She is among a handful of Wisconsin youths who will receive the Distinguished Junior Award at the Jan. 9 awards banquet.

To be eligible for the award, youths ages 17 to 21 must be a member of the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association who have excelled in their Junior Holstein projects.

Bauer is the 19-year-old daughter of Frank and Ruth Bauer. She has three younger brothers: Ethan, Seth and Ryan. She is very involved in the family’s 400-cow dairy farm, Sandy-Valley. Her responsibilities on the farm include calf care, identification, clipping, merchandising and helping out wherever needed.

Bauer enjoys showing Holsteins and is very involved in 4-H. She is the president of the Waupaca-Waushara Junior Holstein Association. She has enjoyed dairy judging at county, state and national levels.

She also helps with children’s programs at her church. Her hobbies include photography and riding her horses.
