Paulson, Virtle L.

Virtle L. Paulson, Waupaca, WI, age 90, died on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Crystal River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waupaca. She was born on September 14, 1920 in Hope, ND, the daughter of Henry and Virtle (Restorf) Huffstutler. She married Sanford W. Paulson on January 15, 1941 in Columbia Heights, MN. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2000. Virtle is survived by her daughter; Sharon (Larry) Zempel of Waupaca, her son; Jerry (Marcy) Paulson of Plover, grandchildren; Jeffrey (Sally) Nicewander, Joel Nicewander, Jason (Tami) Nicewander, Jarrod (Tiffany) Nicewander, Luann Zempel, Bradley Paulson, Laurie (Bill) Grace, and Sharyl (Greg) Schmotzer, great grandchildren; Katrina (Jared) Daggit, Curtis Paulson, Blake Dahl, Tyler and Riley Schmotzer, Eric (Molly) Nicewander and Sarah Nicewander, Cameron, Casey, and Alyssa Nicewander, Megan Nicewander, and Elena Grace, great great grandson; Jack Henry Daggit, and a brother; Bernard (Shirley) Huffstutler. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford, granddaughter; Wendi Paulson, great granddaughter; Tianna Nichole, infant sisters; Shirley and Audrey-Ella, and a sister; Viola Durrant, and brothers; Ernest, Wayne, and Harold. Virtle had been a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Waupaca, having served as a Sunday school teacher, working with the Baptist Youth Fellowship group, and with the ladies groups. She and Sanford had been strong supporters of the Rawhide Boys Ranch in New London. They had also been foster parents. Virtle and Sanford were also avid travelers. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Waupaca, WI on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Larry Gross, officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Park Cemetery in Waupaca at a later date. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
