Lady Trucks lose to Hawks, beat Comets

The Lady Trucker varsity basketball team lost by a score of 33-45 to the Xavier Hawks on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
The Lady Truckers fell behind 8-12 after one quarter and were down 16-26 at halftime. Neither team could muster much offense in the third quarter, as the game went to the final frame with Clintonville trailing 22-31. The Hawks outscored the Truckers 14-11 in the fourth quarter to notch the 45-33 victory.
Clintonville suffered from a cold shooting night, as team leaders Nichole Paisar and Nikki Kautz combined to shoot just 6-21. The Lady Truckers also shot just 3-11 from 3-point range and made just eight of 15 from the free-throw line. Clintonville gathered 10 steals but also turned the ball over 10 times.
Paisar paced the Lady Truckers with 10 points, while Kautz added nine. Erin Peeters and Stacy Reinke each tallied four, while Brittany Hoffman scored three, Steph Klegin netted two, and Jenna Surprise scored one.
The Lady Truckers went on to beat the Waupaca Comets by a score of 52-36 on Friday, Jan. 7. At Waupaca, Paisar scored 14 points and Kautz and Peeters scored 12 points apiece to lead the Truckers past the Comets. Reinke added six, while Klegin, Erin Richter, Surprise, and Markiesa Westphal each added two. Kautz nailed three 3-pointers, while Paisar hit two from beyond the arc and Reinke added one trey.
The Lady Truckers’ next home game is Friday, Jan. 21 against Ripon at 7:15 p.m.
