Gehrke, Sadie R.

Sadie R. Gehrke, age 97, a lifelong resident of Waupaca County, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the New London Family Medical Center. Sadie the only child of the late Rudolph and Emma (Schroeder) Rieman, was born on November 16, 1913, in the Town of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County. Sadie was a graduate of Little Wolf High School, and furthered her education at U.W. Stevens Point. Sadie was employed at Zwicker Knitting Mill for 35 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer driver for Waupaca County for 15 years. She was an avid reader and an excellent cake decorator. Sadie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manawa. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Gerald) Wilie, Marion; grandchildren: David Wilie, Madison; Dawn Wilie, Middleton; Rhonda (Derek) Wilz, Manawa; Gary Hotvedt, Manawa; Tom (Mary) Hotvedt, Waupaca; daughter-in-law: Marjorie Hotvedt, Manawa; step-children: Ruth (Paul) Wanless, Paul (Marie) Gehrke; great-grandchildren: Katrina, Luke, and Lesley Wilz, Kyle, and Kendra Hotvedt; sister-in-law: Dorothy Gehrke; eight step-grandchildren; a special long time friend, Lucille Storma; the Behnke cousins (Amanda, Gloria, and Leatrice); the Kuczmarski cousins (Jean, Nancy, and Roger). Sadie was preceded in death by her son, Lesley Hotvedt and husbands, Harold Hotvedt and Paul Gehrke Sr. The funeral service for Sadie was held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa with Pastor Tom Theama officiating. Burial was in Park Cemetery in Ogdensburg. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or Zion Lutheran Church.
