Karbowski, Joseph

Joseph Bernard Karbowski, age 89, of the Town of Springwater, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. He was born in Babcock, WI on March 19, 1921, the son of Ben and Martha (Seebruck) Karbowski. He entered the Navy on April 4, 1941, where he played the clarinet for six years, and was honorably discharged on April 9, 1947. Joseph retired from Wisconsin Gas, where he worked for the service department. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW. Joseph is survived by his wife Roberta, whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage this year on January 3; three sons: Ronald (Debra), David (Karen), and Kenneth; step-children: Keith Montross, Linda (John) Harmon, Kevin (Elizabeth) Montross, and Janet (Steven) Erbach; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special niece: Donna (Harold) Fuller and special godson: Hal (Lynda) Fuller. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Susan Orlowski; step-daughter, Sandra Martin,two sisters, Rose (Joe) Kowaleski and Julie (Ray) Kohler, and a brother, Leo Karbowski, MIA WWII. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
