Mittelstaedt, Helen

Helen A. Mittelstaedt, age 90, of Greenville, formerly of Royalton, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. She was born on August 4, 1920 in the Town of Royalton, daughter of the late Leo and Julia (Baumgart) Roloff. On May 4, 1940 she was united in marriage to Otto John Mittelstaedt in Manawa. He preceded her in death in 1995. Helen and Otto lived and farmed in the Town of Lebanon area for many years. Helen was a custodian for many years with the Manawa School District retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Royalton Christian Church and of their ladies aid. Helen enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens and her many puzzles. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their visits always brought a smile to her face. She is survived by a daughter: Susan (Jack) Griffin, Appleton; son: Thomas (Patricia) Mittelstaedt, Royalton; four grandchildren: Brett (Amy) Griffin, Bridget (Greg) Huenink, Meghan (Bryant) Hagen, Richard Mittelstaedt; seven great-grandchildren: Ellie, Ray, Katherine Griffin, Geoffrey and Jonathan Huenink, Annabelle and Clara Hagen; brother: Floyd (Dolores) Roloff; sisters-in-law: Mary Roloff, Cordell Roloff; brother-in-law: Robert Wegener. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers Lawrence, Leonard (Charlotte), Clarence (Margaret) and Adolph Roloff. The funeral service for Helen will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Royalton Christian Church. Burial will be in the Little Wolf Cemetery, Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Helen’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Living Tree Estates in Greenville for the love and compassionate care they gave mom the past four years.
