Jerry Janssen, 49, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House after a short battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 28, at the Church of the Ascension 9510 W. 127th St. Overland Park, Kansas 66213. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 PM Thursday night at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House.
Jerry was born December 30, 1961, in Green Bay, WI. He was a Division Clinical Manager for Apria Healthcare. His laugh was contagious and his zest for life was always present. Jerry’s daughters were his pride and joy; he attend every event and could always be heard on the sidelines. Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy. Jerry was a beloved husband to Renee for 20 years and a loving father to Emily and Rachel. Other survivors include his parents, Dean and Pauline Janssen, brothers and sisters Mary (William) Bokath, Mike (Sue) Janssen, Steve (Cathy) Janssen, Lynn Janssen, Deanna Janssen, Paul (Debra) Janssen, Gina (Nick) Trzebiatowski, Mark (Rita) Janssen-Singh, Jill Janssen, father and mother-in-law Roger and Darlene Richter, brothers-in-law Roger (Margaret) Richter, II, Randy Richter and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
