Larry James “Uncle Larry” Kamba, age 55, died unexpectedly of health related issues on Monday, January 17, 2011, at his residence. Larry was born on December 12, 1955, in New London son of the late Bob and Marion (Stern) Kamba. He proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Forrestal which included several Mediterranean tours. He worked at Sara Lee (Hillshire Farms) as a Maintenance Supervisor for over 30 years. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed his regular camping trips to Lac Vieux Desert and loved to share pictures of sunsets on his favorite lake for all to enjoy. He was a gifted storyteller and quick to tell a joke. Larry was a talented individual who could fix anything and enjoyed “tinkering” in his garage. Larry is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sisters and brothers: Holly (Tom) Boettcher, Greenville; Kevin (Bonnie) Kamba, New London; Sharon Gassen (special friend, Tim Pynenberg), Neenah; Keith (Cheryl) Kamba, Minocqua; Vicki Magadanz (special friend, Tony Alexander), LaCrosse. Nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart, Tony (Sheri) Boettcher, Fremont; Josh Gassen, Marion; Jackie Clapp (special friend, Ryan Scheibe), Menasha; Heather (Erik) Kandler, Neenah; Nicholas (Michelle) Kamba, Clintonville; Joel (Heather) Kamba, New London; Danielle Kamba (special friend, Brandon Wittig), New London; Ashley Kamba (fiance, Grant Packard), Davenport, IA. He is further survived by numerous friends who Larry thought of as family. Funeral services for Larry were held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home. Visitation was at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established, which will honor his name forever.
