Lady Bulldogs take down Panthers

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team played a fast paced third quarter to tire out the Panthers in a 53-32 victory last week Thursday. Both teams had a strong start as the Bulldogs led by two after one quarter and later a 23-16 halftime lead.

The third quarter proved the most evident on the night as the Bulldogs outscored the Panthers 18-7 against a very effective zone defense. The icing on the cake was put on in the fourth quarter en route for the win. The junior duo of Tara Knapstein and Bridget Pethke combined for 24 points in the winning effort. The team also only missed two free throws on the night tallying for 75 percent. The Bulldogs were in action in Marinette Tuesday and will travel to Luxemburg-Casco Friday for a rematch with the Spartans which could change the race for the conference title. The Bulldog’s last loss was against the Spartans in early December. The Spartans are also ranked first in Division 2 Wissports.net coaches poll while the Bulldogs are ranked seventh. The Spartans and Bulldogs are also ranked first and seventh in the Associated Press Poll.
