Loughrin scores 29 in Indians’ last two games

Kyle Loughrin continues to put up some big numbers for the Weyauwega-Fremont boys’ basketball team.

The senior scored 29 points in each of his last two games, a 68-48 win Friday, Jan. 21, over Wittenberg-Birnamwood and a 55-52 loss Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Clintonville.

WITTENBERG – Loughrin’s 10 points helped the Indians take a 20-14 lead into the second quarter. The Chargers outscored the Indians 17-12 in the second quarter, but W-F had a 14-11 advantage in the third quarter and outscored the Chargers 22-6 over the final eight minutes.

Calvin Swanson also finished in double figures for the Indians with 11 points, while Chase Nier led W-B with 14.

Clintonville 55, W-F 52

Loughrin and the Truckers’ Patrick Van Daalwyk combined to score 57 of the game’s 107 points, as Van Daalwyk led Clintonville with 28.

Clintonville led 10-9 after the first quarter and 28-25 at halftime and the teams went into the fourth quarter tied at 40-40.

Loughrin and Van Daalwyk were the only two players in the game to score in double figures. Swanson and Clintonville’s Xavier Fletcher finished with eight points each.

The Indians hosted Bonduel Tuesday, Jan. 25, and will play at Stevens Point Pacelli at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28.
