Piotraschke, Mary

Mary D. Piotraschke, age 81 years, of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Shawano Medical Center. The former Mary Dorothy Wetzel was born on September 28, 1929 in Chicago, IL to the late Herbert and Ellen (Driscoll) Wetzel. She was united in marriage on Nov. 15, 1947 to Elmer A. Piotraschke at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marion. In 1958 the couple moved to Long Lake Rd., Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, where they dairy farmed until 1989. Mary enjoyed her homemaker role and taking care of her family. After retirement, Elmer and Mary moved to Clintonville and settled on County Road Y. The couple liked traveling and listening to polka music. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 2009. She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mary’s other interests included reading, jig saw puzzles, word searches, sewing & mending clothing, and spending time with family especially during the holidays. She will be remembered most for her positive outlook on life, her wonderful smile, and her beautiful & striking blue eyes. Survivors include eight children; Christine (Terry) Meyer of New Berlin, Corrine (Richard) Gebert of Nichols, Cathleen (George) Heck of Green Bay, Colleen (John) Mueller of Clintonville, David (Tammy) Piotraschke of Powers, MI, Carla (Ricky) Jose of Abrams, Candice Piotraschke of Little Chute, and Daniel (Trisha) Piotraschke of Oshkosh. There are 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. There are two brothers, Donald (Joan) Wetzel of Appleton and Ray (Liz) Wetzel of Marrow, OH. Mary is further survived by a sister-in-law, Pat Wetzel of Kaukauna, and a brother-in-law, Jim Van Nuland of San Jose, CA, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, Donald, a granddaughter, Cheryl Heck, a grandson, Rylan Piotraschke, three sisters, Florence, Gloria & Patti, and two brothers, Eugene “Gene” & Herbert (Augusta) Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion. Fr. Patrick Lloyd will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Church – Elevator Fund.
