The Waupaca Comet wrestling team came up on the short end of a 63-14 score Thursday, Jan. 27, in an Eastern Valley Conference dual meet in Winneconne.
Levi Petroske, Connor Avery and Brandon Palmer picked up wins for the Comets. Petroske pinned Ethan Miller in 5:30 at 119, Avery handed Matt Seelow a 9-1 defeat at 135 and Brandon Palmer beat Nate Rosendahl 19-9 at 145.
Winneconne’s wins included Boone Roycraft’s pin of Dalton Stelzner in 1:46 at 103, Joe Lefeber’s 17-1 technical fall over Bohdi Gust at 112, Brett Wenzel’s 13-2 win over Kelly Lind at 130, Kyle Brasch’s pin of Mitch Molder in 3:26 at 140, Nathaneal Miller’s pin of Brady Spaulding in 1:24 at 152 and Kyle Epping’s pin of Conner Hansen in 51 seconds at 215.
The Comets will compete with Appleton Xavier, Berlin, Clintonville, Fox Valley Lutheran, Freedom, Little Chute, Ripon and Winneconne in the conference meet Saturday, Feb. 5, in Clintonville. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.
