Wojtech, Lucille C.

Lucille C. Wojtech, Waupaca, Wisconsin, age 87, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega, WI. She was born October 12, 1923 in Chicago, IL; daughter of Damiano and Giovanna (Nigritto) Ferrara. On October 17, 1942, Lucille was united in marriage to Alex Wojtech in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2007. The young couple spent the first years of their married life in Chicago where Lu worked out of the home while rearing four children. Alex and Lu later moved to Milwaukee in 1957 where she continued to work and raise her family. Lu enjoyed socializing with friends, taking boat rides on the Chain O’ Lakes, playing cards and bingo, and reading her Readers’ Digests. After they retired, she and Al spent the winters in Naples, Florida for many years where they swam, shelled, and walked the beaches, as well as making new friends. Lu made great meatballs, spaghetti, and her homemade pizza parties were very memorable. She always had an “open door policy” for family and friends, and her favorite words to them was “Manga, Manga”, which means “Eat!” in Italian. Lu will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Lu is survived by: Four Children: James (Diane) Wojtech of Marion, WI, Vince (Jan) Wojtech of Waupaca, WI, Linda (Steve) Joy of Brookfield, WI, Tom Wojtech of Salina, KS; Seven Grandchildren: Sarah Wojtech of Rhinelander, WI, Valerie Wojtech of Denver, CO, Erika Wojtech of Milwaukee, WI, James (fiancee, Courtney Rowe) Wojtech of Waupaca, WI, Heidi (Mike) David of Wauwatosa, WI, Holly (Shan) Lee of Brookfield, WI, Tom (Liz) Joy of Shorewood, WI; Six Great-Grandchildren: Abigail, Alex, and Andrew David, Ryan and Tyler Lee, Tristan Wojtech; Sister: Rosemary Ferrara of Chicago, IL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Damiano and Giovanna Ferrara; her husband, Alexander Wojtech; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Leigh Rowe-Wojtech; two brothers, Vince Ferrara and Joe Ferrara; and three sisters, Mary Campbell, Ann Williamson, and Lena Penkala. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 12130 W. Center Street, Wauwatosa, WI. Father Jim Kimla will preside. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield following the mass on Friday.
