Drews, William L.

William Louis Drews, Larsen, Wisconsin, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Bill was born on September 13, 1941 to Reno and Leona (Krenke) Drews. His grandparents were Louis and Ida Drews and William and Emelia Krenke. On October 12, 1968, Bill married Kathleen Stiebs at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco. Together, they shared their lives for 42 years, through joys and sorrows. Bill was a baptized, confirmed and life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in the Town of Caledonia, where he also served as a trustee. He attended grade school at Zion Lutheran School and later graduated from Washington Senior High School in New London. He established many friendships there and shared his good memories and his love of playing on the football team. Bill was a fifth generation family farmer, who took great pride in caring for the land, his dairy cows and pigs. His corn cribs burst at the seams and his hay mows were always full. After health problems forced early retirement from the farm, Bill found joy and purpose in helping his family and taking care of his grandson, Konnor. He enjoyed working in the woods and always kept busy looking after loved ones. Bill will always be remembered as a family man of faith, love, character and integrity. He took great pleasure in attending his children and grandson’s school and sporting events. He also enjoyed watching Packer games and got the chance to see them win the Super Bowl again. Bill will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy; his children, Jennifer Kuppernus, and Matthew Drews; his grandson, Konnor Kuppernus; his sisters, Betty (Arlyn) Buchholz, and Mavis Kohl; his brother Jim Drews; and his brother-in-law, Mike Stiebs. Bill is also survived by his nieces, Roxanne (Tom) Drews-Tuchscherer; seven nephews, Barry Drews, Bryan (Marge) Buchholz, Mark (Kim) Buchholz, Tom (Bonnie) Buchholz, Dan (Diane) Kohl, John (Cindy) Kohl III, and Peter (Shelly) Kohl; Bill is further survived by Kathy’s nieces, Jan (Ernie) Flatoff, Sue (Mike) Zarecki, Tami (Dennis) Burton, Julianna (Terry) Otremba and Kristina (Trent) Munyer, other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Stephanie; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Dorothy Stiebs; his brother-in-law, John Kohl, Jr; two sisters-in-law, Bev Drews and Nancy Stiebs; and his niece, Christine Redemann.
