Fitzgerald, Robert J.

Robert J. Fitzgerald, Age 81, passed away on Saturday February 19, 2011 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. He was born on November 23, 1929, in Green Bay, son of the late Dr. Robert & Marie (Kelly) Fitzgerald. Bob attended St. Norbert’s College, where he received a Bachelors degree and the University of Northern Colorado, where he received a Masters degree in Science and was a member of the National Scholastic Honor Society. He formerly taught school in Shiocton for 15 years. He was editor of the New London Press-Star and worked as a reporter for the Appleton Post Crescent. He served his country in the U.S. Army, Army Counter Intelligence, during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by a brother, William Fitzgerald, New London. A sister, Helen Marie Fitzgerald, New London. Three nephews, Jerry Kowalski, Little Chute; Kevin Robert Fitzgerald , Neenah and his children, Julian Robert Fitzgerald, Callista Steele Fitzgerald, and Jordan Kate Fitzgerald and Greg (Liz) Fitzgerald, Medina and his children, Liam Mitchel Fitzgerald and Gavin James Fitzgerald. The Funeral Mass for Robert will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 22, 2011 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at the Most Precious Blood Cemetery. Military rites will be held.
