Warnke, Stella M.

Stella M. Warnke, age 94, of Fremont, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 8, 1916, in Spencer, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Frederick and Ella (Radichel) Wangerin. On April 22, 1939, Stella married Walter Warnke at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2006. Stella was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and was a former member of the choir, LWML and Ladies Aid. Both Stella and Walter served as church custodians for many years. Stella enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Stella is survived by a brother, Leroy (Violet) Wangerin, Wautoma; two brothers-in-law, Wendell (Lorraine) Warnke, Appleton and Wesley Warnke, Fremont; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Erdmann, DePere and Elva Warnke, Fremont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerhard Wangerin and a sister, Alice (Walter) Mach. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday at the church, from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fremont.

Stella’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to all of the wonderful caregivers that have taken care of Stella over the last several years. It was greatly appreciated.
