Stremkowski, Phillip

Phillip Paul Stremkowski, 77, of Custer died unexpectedly Tuesday evening March 1, 2011 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Phillip was born September 1, 1933 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Zigmund and Clara (Maciejewski) Stremkowski. He attended the Liberty Corners Grade School, and St. Mary’s Fancher Catholic School. He married Rose Raschka on June 18, 1960, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last June with family and friends. His wife Rose survives. Phillip worked for Haertel Monument for over 40 years. Since retiring he worked part-time for the Stevens Point Country Club. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church in Custer, as an usher, cemetery committee member and various other activities. Phillip enjoyed farm work, pinochle, gardening and visiting with family and friends. His most precious time was spent attending school and sporting events of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and especially the time he spent with all of his children. Survivors besides his wife Rose are five daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Rucinski of Plover, Joanne (Jeff) Genskow of Custer, Cindy (Jim) Stark of Albert Lea, MN, Ruth (John) Otto of Verona, and Lisa (Jeremy) Piesik of Stevens Point, and three sons Mike (Shelly) Stremkowski of Custer, John (LeeAnn) Stremkowski of Rosholt and Bill (Melody) Stremkowski of Amherst., his grandchildren Mitch, Logan, Jason (Amy), Josh, Jeff, Jolene, Jessie, Amanda, Jake, Nick, Emily, Allison, Megan, Lisa, Ed, Claire, Cameo, Zach and Samantha, and three great grandchildren Skylar, Kyla and Hope. He is also survived by one brother Dan (Sue) Stremkowski of Custer, and five sisters Marie Konkol of Menomonee Falls, Lorraine (LeRoy) Lundgren of Stevens Point, Gloria Kitowski of Plover, Bernice Stremkowski of Plover and Dolores Damask of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harry, Edmund, and Zigmund Jr., sisters Lucille, Phyllis (his twin), and Dorothy, father-in-law Joseph Raschka Sr., and brother- in-law Harold Raschka. Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 AM Monday March 7, 2011 at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Custer. Rev. Rajen Anandan will officiate. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Family and friends called from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home in Plover, and from 9:30 AM Monday at St. Mary’s Parish until the time for mass. Phillip touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
