Youth Soccer Registrations Set To Begin

Registrations for the 2011 season of the Clintonvilee Area Youth Soccer League can be made starting Monday April 11th at City Hall, 50 10th Street. City Hall is open Monday through Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm. Also, a special registration session has been set up – Saturday May 14th, 9 am – 1 pm at the Clintonville Community Center, 30 S. Main St. The initial registration deadline is Friday June 17th, 4:30 pm. Area youth age 5-14 as of September 1, 2011 are eligible to take part in the league. This year parents with children who have been held back a year in school or are a year older than their classmates, can by request have them included in the age group in which their classmates participate in. Important dates related to the 2011 season are as follows: Monday April 11 – start of registration – accepted at City Hall Saturday May 14 – special registration session – Community Center Friday June 17 – initial registration deadline – without penalty Friday June 24 – second registration deadline – with $10 penalty after 6/17 Monday August 15 – (tentative) 6:30 pm – coaches meeting – Community Center Monday August 22 – team practice starts this week Saturday September 10 – league play begins – Bucholtz Park Saturday October 22 – end of season activity/tournament Coach recruitment is also beginning. Each year a number of new coaches are needed. Anyone interested in coaching is asked to contact the department office at 823-7660. The youth soccer season is just 10 weeks long, broken down into 3 practice weeks, six regular season Saturday game days, and finally a season ending activity/tournament on the last Saturday. New coaches can be paired with a returning coach for assistance. Also, a number of training aids are available, plus one or more training sessions will be held. Officials are also needed for the league. Officials are paid. Anyone interested in help out with this should also contact the department. The league is able to be flexible in scheduling officials to work as their personal schedule allows.
