Indians cruise to win

It didn’t take a long for the Weyauwega-Fremont softball team to make a statement against Shiocton.

The Indians scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled to a 19-0 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference win over the Chiefs Monday, April 18, in Weyauwega.

W-F also dropped an 11-5 game Thursday, April 14, in Amherst and defeated Bonduel 15-5 Tuesday, April 12.

WEYAUWEGA – The offense wasn’t the only thing clicking for the Indians, as Kayla Bastar and Kelsey Akey teamed up for a no-hitter.

Maggie Knecht and Kaitlyn Akey each drove in three runs for the Indians, while Anna Forslin had two of the team’s 10 hits. Megan Stinski also tripled.

Amherst 11, W-F 5

AMHERST – McKenna Johnson’s three-run home run in the fifth inning helped lead the Falcons over the Indians in Amherst.

The Indians scored once in the top of the first inning, but Amherst countered with four in the bottom half of the inning. The Indians eventually tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fifth.

W-F 15, Bonduel 5

WEYAUWEGA – The Indians scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth and Rachel Knecht drove in five runs to lead W-F over the Bears.

Kate Wieters, Mariah Hulbert and Knecht each had three of the Indian’s 11 hits.
