Clintonville area nonprofits receive $13,000 in grants

The Clintonville Area Foundation has awarded $13,000 in grants to four charitable organizations serving people in the Clintonville area.

The grants, which benefit a range of community causes, were awarded from two charitable funds this year: the Clintonville Community Fund and the Viola Behling Health Fund, an endowment that permanently gives back to the community.

“These grants reflect the Foundation’s mission of enhancing and improving the social, cultural, educational, health and general well-being of people in the Clintonville area,” said Robert Van Asten, advisory board chairman of the Clintonville Area Foundation. “We are proud to award the grants in the names of those who wanted to ensure that their charitable dollars benefited our community today and for generations to come.”

Eligible nonprofit organizations submitted grant requests through the Foundation’s annual competitive process. The Foundation’s volunteer grants committee members recommend grant recipients to the advisory board for approval.

“The CAF is planning to host a grant writing workshop in Clintonville for charitable organizations on Monday, August 29, 2011. This will be a kick-off to the next grant cycle, which begins this September. Additional information will be released later this summer,” said Jenny Goldschmidt, CAF grants committee chair.
