Humke, Jane

Jane Althea Knowlton Humke, 97, Waupaca-Wild Rose area, died peacefully Monday, April 18, 2011, at Rosemore Village in Wild Rose, with her family present. She was born January 17, 1914, in Milwaukee, the eldest daughter of the late, Harry and Jessie (Peterson) Knowlton. Jane married Paul Humke, on August 20, 1938, at the South Baptist Church, Milwaukee. An avid seamstress, rug maker, and knitter, she also did intricate needlepoint and cross-stitch. As a volunteer, she made several quilts for the Riverview Hospital Auxiliary Guild. Survivors include: her two sons; Paul (Bonnie) Humke, Northfield, MN, and William (Kathy) Humke, Fond du Lac.: four grand children; Kristi (Bruce) Schiroo, Eric (Ingrid), Peter, Willie (Kristine) Humke, four great grand-children: Benjamin and Serrianna Rockswald and Emily and Jonathan Humke; a sister, Virginia, Dallas TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul, her sister, Barbara and her brother Daniel. A memorial day is planned for July.
