New London, Dale, and the Hortonville/Hortonia Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at N2271 Highway 45 in the Township of Caledonia shortly after 6:30 a.m. Sunday, May 15.
The home owned by Steve and Tracey Hoier sustained substantial damage from the fire. There were no injuries reported.
New London Fire Chief Bart Roloff believes the fire started in the ceiling of a first floor laundry room.
According to the report Steve Hoier woke up hearing a crackling sound coming from the laundry room. He then observed embers falling from the ceiling above the clothes washer. He was able to evacuate the children and pets safely to the outside.
