First State Bank recently presented a one thousand dollar check to the American Cancer Society in sponsorship of the Relay for Life of New London on June 10-11, 2011. While the bank has always sponsored a team for the Relay, this is the first year that it decided to support the event as a corporate sponsor.
“A number of our staff members stepped up their volunteer involvement in the Relay for Life; both on the event committee and on our First State Bank team,” explains bank president, Harry Radix. “First State Bank has a long history of supporting community causes financially and through employee volunteerism. It’s what differentiates us as a community bank.”
First State Bank Team members include Karla Riehl (team captain), Patti Bessette, Pamela Buttles, Marsha Handrich, Brenda Hansen, Barb Krueger, Becky LeNoble, Kathy Malouf, Diana Suehs, Carrie Willes, Wendy Wright, and Sandy Zahn.
As part of the Team’s fundraising efforts, Relay for Life candy bars are being sold at most First State Bank offices. Donations also can be made to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Team at any First State Bank office.
