Manawa Lions Club Happenings

The month of May saw the club shift gears and get into Mid-Western Rodeo preparation. The club now meets at the rodeo grounds every Monday until after the rodeo. The rodeo runs Friday July 1 – Sunday July 3 with four performances during that time. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday night and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday afternoon. There are many activities going on at the rodeo grounds the entire weekend. We will have the Stampede run beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday morning, chicken barbeque dinner beginning at noon on Saturday and Sunday, food stand for a lighter menu, and of course popcorn and cotton candy throughout the weekend. Hope to see you all at the 53rd annual Mid-Western Rodeo.

The club also hosted the annual senior banquet and awards ceremony for our graduating seniors. Each year the Manawa Lions host this event where the graduating class is recognized for many different achievements and are awarded many scholarships. The lions club funds five $500 scholarships each year. This year’s recipients were Caryn Frazier, Olivia Bessette, Dan Roenz, Ali Dean, and Ashley Remington. Congratulations to these young people and all of the seniors.

The Manawa Lions Club meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month from September – April at Cedar Springs in Manawa and from May – August every Monday at the Hoffmann Memorial Park rodeo grounds. All are welcome to come and experience the great service our Lions club along with all Lions do for our community, state, nation, and internationally. If you would like more information just come to a meeting or call 920-596-2005.
