Diamond Cats pick up five wins, run record to 6-1

The American Legion Post 63 Diamond Cats earned five wins over the past two weeks. The team is now 6-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall.

Clintonville 11

Bonduel 1

The Diamond Cats beat Bonduel 11-1 in 5 innings on Saturday, July 2. Chase Stenson was the winning pitcher and went the distance, tallying nine strikeouts and issuing just two walks. Austin Paisar led the hitting attack, going 3×3 with 3 RBI. Mike Hogen was 2×2 with 2 RBI. Garrick Morgan was 2×2. Turner Doornink had a hit and 2 RBI.

Menominee 8

The Diamond Cats drilled 15 hits, including Kolin Kubitz’s home run. Doornink had a double and triple, while Jake Riemer was 2×4, Paisar was 2×3, Ben Klein was 2×2, and Morgan, Patrick Van Daalwyk, and Hogen also added hits. Paisar got the win on the mound.

Van Daalwyk allowed three hits and had 10 strikeouts, while Mike Hogen led the offense with 3 hits, including a double and triple. Paisar was 3×4, Doornink was 2×3, and Riemer and Van Daalwyk were 2×4. Morgan and Kubitz each had a hit.

Van Daalwyk picked up the win on the mound for the Diamond Cats while also going 2×3 at the plate. Adam Weatherwax boosted the offense as well, going 2×3. The big hit of the night came from Doornink, who cracked a 3-run home run to seal the victory. Hogen and Riemer also had hits for Clintonville. The team scored all six of its runs in the sixth inning.

Drew Radies was 2×3 with two doubles for Marion/Tigerton, while Austin Hoffman was also 2×3.

Van Daalwyk picked up another win from the hill as the Diamond Cats dropped Menominee in five innings.

Morgan and Hogen were both 2×4, while Stenson and Kubitz were both 2×3. Kubitz drilled a 3-run home run early in the game, and Riemer, Doornink and Cody Bruette also added hits to the 11-hit offensive attack.
