NL School District welcomes new staff

Seven new certified staff were welcomed in the School District of New London last week during a new teacher in-service meeting.

Sara Christensen

Hometown: Poynette, WI

Sara Christensen will teach 8th grade at New London Middle School.

“I have a student-centered philosophy and like to teach lessons using project-based learning that relates to studetns lives,” she said.

Sarah Olver

Hometown: Janesville, WI

Sarah Olver, will teach Early Childhood and Special Ed at New London High School. She said she is looking forward to an exciting school year with the parents, students and staff in the district, and she is already planning many hands on and engaging activities for her students. “Open communication between school and home is a key, and I look forward to building a strong relationship with families,” she said.

Amy Hoppenjan

Hometown: Beaver Dam, WI

Amy Hoppenjan will teach third grade at Sugar Bush Elementary School.

“I’m looking forward to a great year with students, parents and the community,” she said. “We will have a lot of fun interactions, group learning and challenging content.”

Stephen Kovacs

Hometown: Strongsville, OH

Stephen Kovacs will teach 5-8 grades in vocal music at the New London Intermediate and Middle School. He has taught the past nine years in Jersey City, NJ. “I am looking forward to sharing the gift of music with the students of New London Intermediate/Middle School,” he said.

Judith Siebold

Hometown: New London, WI

Judith Siebold will be a speech pathologist at Parkview Elementary and NL Intermediate School.

She is a former graduate of Washington High School and is very excited to be coming back to Bulldog country and is looking forward to working with staff, parents and students as a speech pathologist. “There’s no place home,” she said.

Penny Fleischman

Hometown: Antigo, WI

Penny Fleischman will teach Spanish/ESL for grades K-4 at Parkview Elementary School.

She brings a wealth of experience to the district and is looking forward to working with the staff and students at Parkview. “I am a firm believer that education is the key to a successful and fulfilled life,” she said. “I see each student as a unique individual with unique needs and strive to provide them with what they need to become the best they can be.”

Corene Strohfeldt

Hometown: Appleton, WI

Corene Strohfeldt will be an elementary school counselor at Sugar Bush and Lincoln Elementary schools. “I am looking forward to working with the students, parents and community members to build strong relationships while fostering academic, social, and emotional growth within our children,” she said.
