Waupaca man accused of robbery, battery, theft

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jason G. Cepanica, 41, Waupaca.

Cepanica was charged Aug. 16 with armed robbery with use of force, battery, theft and disorderly conduct.

On Sunday, Aug. 14, Waupaca Police Officer Josh Krueger interviewed a woman who reported that she had been robbed.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman borrowed $145 from Cepanica to have her tires fixed. He called her on the morning of Aug. 13 and demanded his money back.

When the woman told Cepanica that she only had $110, he allegedly said she had until noon to pay him the money back or he would kill her. Cepanica came to the house where the woman was staying and hit her in the face with a crowbar, according to the criminal complaint. He is also accused of taking her watch and her cell phone after she paid him $110.

Cepanica faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of armed robbery.
