Warrant Officer Scott R. Sheard, son of Leonard and the late Wanda Sheard, was deployed on his second tour of duty in Iraq late in July 2011.
He is assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division of the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas.
Sheard finished his first tour in Iraq in July 2010. Upon his return, he was accepted for Warrant Officer School at Fort Rucker, Ala., where he graduated and received his appointment as warrant officer (WO1) on Oct. 21, 2010.
Sheard is a 1990 graduate of New London High School.
