Scherz, Irene D.

Irene D. Scherz, of Waupaca, age 63, passed away Tuesday, September 06, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI. She was born in Milwaukee Co. on June 24, 1948, the daughter of the late Dwight and Louise (Lyannas) Hoppert. She was united in marriage to Terrance Scherz on April 19, 1969. Irene was a loving, caring and devoted wife, sister and aunt. She loved the outdoors, camping, campfires, traveling and sitting in a hot tub. She enjoyed collecting penguin and owl items of all sorts, such as jewelry and stuffed animals. Her biggest wish in life was to have a child, but sadly that never happened. She will be truly missed by her husband and their dog Pepper. Irene is survived by her husband, Terrance; brothers: Greg (Barbara) Hoppert and Bill (Chris) Koebert; sisters: Debra (Ron) Sukup, Danielle Sobolik and Roxanne (Brian) Demjen; brother-in-law, Roger Scherz and sister-in-law, Cindy (Scott) Demanovich. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, with Father Brian Belongia officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Town of Dayton. Visitation was held on Friday at Maple Crest Funeral Home from 4 – 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service.
