Henning, Juanita Katherine

Juanita Katherine Henning of Ogdensburg, passed away on Saturday, September, 17, 2011 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point with her family by her side. She was born on June 9, 1939 in Defiance, Ohio daughter of the late William Robert and Grace Elizabeth (Sharp) Elliot. She grew up on her parents farm in Michigan with her many siblings and family. Juanita attended Pittsford Rural School the “Class of 1956”. On June 3, 1957 she married George Gibson in Adrian, Michigan. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1985. Juanita then was united in marriage to Herman L. Henning on May 2, 1986 in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2006. Juanita had a passion for gardening, canning, and listening to Irish dance and flute music. She was very proud of her Irish and Cherokee heritages. She loved to listen to the deer hunters tell their stories and even joined in the hunt at times. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her 3 sons: George Gibson Jr. and Thomas Gibson, Illinois; William Gibson, Ogdensburg; daughter: Melissa (Michael) Friday, Ogdensburg; 3 step-children: Robert (Siriporn) Henning, Ralph Henning and Theresa Baker, all of Illinois; siblings: Duane, Donald and James Elliott and sister Donna May all of Michigan and Ohio; grandchildren: John, Elizabeth and William Gibson, Grace and Crystal Gibson, Eric and Arielle Gibson, Heidi, Tim, and Terry Odom, Shayna Friday and Jeremy Turnmeyer; great-grandchildren: Mia Brier, Kierah Odom, Aaden Odom, Brent Odom, and Jerimiah Odom. Juanita is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Grace Elliott, grandparents William and Mahala Elliott and George and Alice Sharp, husbands George M. Gibson Sr., and Herman L. Henning, brothers Carl and William and a sister Ruby. The funeral service for Juanita will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa with Rev. Pat Rausch officiating. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in King. A visitation for Juanita will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family of Juanita would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Chain of Lakes Ministry Health Care Center and St. Michael’s Hospital ICU doctors and nurses for the compassion and heartfelt care they gave to her during her appointments and stays.
