Manawa falls to Amherst

Manawa’s Friday night showdown with Amherst ended with a Wolves loss, 41-13.

The Wolves played a tough game but the second quarter was plagued by multiple fumbles and interceptions resulting in Amherst scoring on each of these turnovers. In total Manawa had six turnovers which consisted of five fumbles and one interception.

At the end of the first quarter the score was 0-0. However by the end of the second quarter the score was Amherst 41, Manawa 0. Manawa finished the game out the second half by outscoring Amherst 13-0.

On the positive side Manawa outrushed Amherst 239-186. Leading rusher for the game for Manawa was Kyler Heimbruch with 19 carries for 136 yards. Also offensively Wes Krause did an outstanding job punting three times for a total of 136 yards, an average of 45 yards a punt. Manawa’s passing was 2 for 5 for 33 yards, compared to Amherst’s 10 for 14 for 147 yards.

“We have to keep working hard and good things will come,” said Coach Bob Sell.

Manawa is looking forward to this Friday’s Homecoming game in Manawa vs Wittenberg at 7 p.m. and hoping the fans will come out and continue to support them.
