Beckman, Emery O.

Emery O. Beckman, age 74, of Fremont, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011 following a moped accident. He was born on March 31, 1937, in New London, Wisconsin, the son of the late Edwin and Elda (Breaker) Beckman. On August 30, 1958, Emery married Carol Strey at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. Emery was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale and was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, where he served as an elder. Emery farmed in the Town of Dale for 33 years. He served on the Lake to Lake Dairy Board for 20 years, and also received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. He enjoyed fishing, mopeding, camping, snowmobiling, vacationing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. Emery is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol; three children, Nancy (Larry) Danke, Fremont; Terry Beckman, New London; and Karen (Mark) White, New London; five grandchildren, Darren (Eva), Tyler (Ruth) Danke, Sheena (Justin) Oberg, Karl White and Emma White; a great-grandson, Noah; a sister, Beverly (Robert) Buchholtz, Fremont; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Emery was preceded in death by a brother, Delmar. Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, N985 County Rd. W, Readfield. Rev. Robert Diener will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Union Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont and on Thursday, at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
